Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours for grooming?

Currently, I am available Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8am to 6pm.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, our mobile service is fully licensed and insured.

Do you groom cats?

Unfortunately, no!  I am only taking on canine clients at this time.

What kind of payment do you accept?

Cash and credit/debit.

How old does a puppy need to be for its first groom?

It is recommended that puppies have at least received their second round of shots before reporting to the grooming table.  Puppies should be at least 12 weeks old, and at most 6 months old before beginning to build their experience in a grooming environment.  Starting to desensitize them to equipment as early as possible will help to create a positive association with being groomed.

My senior pet may struggle with grooming. What can we do?

If your pet has reached a point where regular grooming is no longer practical, then it may be time for a "comfort groom".  This means that we stick to what's necessary for your pet's comfort and hygiene, and we skip any high maintenance haircuts or upkeep.  This also means that we may have to modify what your pet's grooming sessions look like - but don't worry!  We can work together to figure out how to keep your senior pup calm, clean, and comfortable.

How long does the grooming process take?

This answer is highly dependent on the dog - coat condition, temperament, and size are important variables.  On average, grooming can take between 1.5-2.5 hours.

How often should my dog be groomed?

Dogs should be groomed, on average, every 8 weeks.  If you are interested in maintaining a longer style that must stay tangle-free, every 4-6 weeks is recommended.  Some dogs have great coat textures that do not tangle easily, or don't require a lot of maintenance - these dogs can get away with up to 10-12 weeks between visits.

What if my dog is matted?

Humanity before Vanity - if your pet is matted, the humane thing to do is start over with a fresh coat.  Some loose mats or tangles can be brushed out with little to no pain, but in cases of more extensive matting the right thing to do is shave the affected areas.  De-matting can be a painful procedure, and I am unwilling to cause harm to your pet or damage the trust we've built together.

Do you require vaccinations?

We do not require vaccination records for us to groom your pet.  We do, however, strongly recommend that your pet be up to date with their vaccinations for your pets health and well being.  By law, in the event of a dog bite, the state will require proof of an up to date rabies vaccine.

Do I have to be home for you to groom my dog?

For the first visit, yes.  I'll need to meet with you in person to go over some intake questions about your dog, review my salon policies, and to discuss your grooming instructions.  After the first visit, when I've gotten to know both you and your pet, we can make arrangements in the future when scheduling conflicts arise.

Will you use my electricity or water?

Typically, no!  The bus has a heated fresh water tank, a water pump, and a generously sized bathtub.  It's also got its own electrical system, air conditioning, and backup power.

Can I see my dog being groomed?

We’d be happy to show you the salon area; however, for the safety of your pet and also due to insurance liability, we cannot allow you to remain inside the bus while your pet is being groomed.  Most dogs become very excited when they see their owners, and your presence might not be as calming as you'd think.  Because we work with very sharp tools, it's best if we keep the wiggling to a minimum!

What if my dog gives you a hard time?

Difficult dogs require calm and patient handling.  If your pet doesn't love the grooming process, don't fret - we can try to switch things up and take an out-of-the-box approach.  We'll work together to find a solution that works for both your dog's safety and mine.

Is tipping customary?

It's never expected, but always appreciated.
